Water Activity Courses
Sailing is a fantastically diverse sport, with activities to suit everyone here in South Wales. The RYA National Sailing Scheme has been designed to help you enjoy whichever aspect of the sport that appeals to you. All the courses in the Scheme are currently taken in a dinghy. Courses are generally run on weekends but can be arranged at other times for small groups or private tuition.
Introduction to Sailing Experience
A 3-hour session offering a an introduction to sailing dinghies. The session will begin to show you the basics needed to helm and crew with an instructor on board. This is a fun session that can lead on to sailing courses if you want to do them; or just a way to try out a new sport that may lead to a new hobby or lifestyle! Minimum of 2 participants required per session. £60 per person
Level 1 – Getting Afloat (Start Sailing)
An introduction to the sport, covering the minimum knowledge required to get afloat under supervision.

Level 2 – The Foundations of Sailing (Basic Skills)
Developing the skills to sail independently (two-day course). £175 per person (phone for group discounts)
Level 3 - Better Sailing
A two-day course to consolidate basic skills and improve techniques learned in Level 2. This also includes an introduction to the advanced modules. £175 per person (phone for group discounts)
A module designed to make you a confident sailor in adverse weather conditions and give you the skills to be able to handle a boat in all circumstances and solve problems afloat.
This module is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to be able to sail and rig a dinghy as crew and helm with a spinnaker.
Sailing is one of the very few sports in which able-bodied and disabled sailors can participate on equal terms. Our RYA Sailability courses will introduce young people and adults with disabilities to sailing. The courses we offer will take participants from complete beginner to competent sailor or just come along and have fun. We cater for groups or individuals. Please contact us for more details.
JUNIOR SAILING COURSES
All of our sailing courses for juniors are RYA recognised, certified courses. Weather conditions can influence participants’ achievement but given reasonable conditions complete beginners will attain the following Stages depending on which course they choose:
Stage 1 (2-days)
Stage 2 (2-days)
Stages 1 and 2 combined (5-days)
Stage 3 (2-days)
All two-day junior courses are £140 per child or £360 for three juniors.
Llandegfedd Sailing Club
Llandegfedd Sailing Club provides racing for the more experienced sailors, as well as ongoing coaching and development for sailors from the age of eight to eighty. Racing is normally on Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings in the summer.
We are delighted to offer private tuition in any area of watersports should you require it. We offer many other combinations of activities both land and water based. Please contact us for your 'tailor made' event and for more information on courses.
